Green Flag Awarded for Eco Efforts

Key to this achievement were our Eco-Warrior Team – which consists of two pupils from every year group – who are led by Operations Manager Satty Billen, Class Teacher Georgia Eales and the Riverside Premises Team.

Together, they have worked tirelessly on a wide range of projects. They completed litter picking duties, built bug hotels, upgraded the garden and pond areas and planted new trees.

The team have also endeavoured to reduce the school’s energy consumption. The implementation of new upgrades, supported through the School Conditioning Allocation, has reduced our energy output by nearly 50% over the last three years.

To ensure we remain energy efficient, pupils have been doing weekly walkarounds, scanning each classroom to see which one is most efficient. Our staff have fully embraced this Energy Awards system and have all been trying to beat one another when our children complete their walkarounds.

We are incredibly proud to have received this accolade as recognition for the efforts we have made to ensure our school is environmentally considerate, and we cannot wait to see what this academic year brings for our Eco-Warriors.
